Installating 25' Length Panels
In order to maintain the proper expansion and contraction of the 25' panel, you will have to limit the movement of the panels. To do this, you must center pin each panel. Center pinning prevents the panel from expanding or contracting too much. Too much expansion can cause the siding to experience oil-canning. Too much contraction of the panel can cause end cuts to pull apart from one another, therefore exposing the substrate of the structure.
This practice should be used on every full length panel when installing vinyl siding of 25' lengths.
